Merzouga Tours: The Sahara Desert Adventure
The small village of Merzouga is known as the gateway to the popular Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara Desert. Although this dusty town has little to boast aside from a few restaurants and hotels. It is famous for tourists wanting to visit the majestic dunes. Enjoy the changing color of the sand in the horizon throughout the day, explore the dunes in the most authentic way- on camelback, and enjoy the hospitality of the Berber people. No trip is complete without spending a night under the sparkling stars of the untouched desert in a traditional bivouac tent.
Since it is a far journey to reach the desert, our shortest tour is the very popular 3 day trip from the red city of Marrakech. Along the way, you will encounter beautiful changing landscapes as well as a number of important sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient ksar. For those with more time available your desert experience can be included in a longer tour, for example: departing from Marrakech and ending in the imperial city of Fes.
